These CROCK POT Candied Yams are part of my Slow Cooker THANKSGIVING Recipes 2019 series. Simmer Sweet potatoes in fresh orange juice to enhance the flavor for this buttery Thanksgiving side dish. Candied Yams recipe
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
4 pounds of sweet potatoes
2 oranges, peel and juice about (1/2 cup of juice)
1 lemon, juiced
1 cup of brown sugar or raw sugar
2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice
1 cup of water
Cover and cook on high for 3 hours. Stir gently every hour
Remove the cover and simmer for 30 minutes or until the sauce has reduced to a glaze.
To make your own pumpkin pie spice use 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon of ginger, 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg and a 1/2 teaspoon of cardamom
