THANKSGIVING RECIPES! | Part 1: Ham & Turkey

Hey, hi, hello everyone and welcome back to Morgs’ Menu!

This video is part 1 of 2 of my Thanksgiving recipes. I show you how I make my Crockpot Brown Sugar Ham and Roasted Turkey Breast. Both of these were brand new recipes for me, but they turned out great and were very simple!

Crockpot Brown Sugar Ham

Ingredients-
7-9 lbs. ham (pre-cooked and sliced)
2-3 cups brown sugar
½ cup pineapple juice

Instructions-
1. Spray crockpot with cooking spray
2. Add ham to crockpot and cover with aluminum foil
3. Cook on high 2 – 3 hours
4. Add brown sugar and pineapple juice onto a pan on the stovetop at medium-high heat; heat until starting to caramelize at a low boil/simmer
5. Remove ham from crockpot and separate slices; add back into crockpot
6. Add sauce into crockpot and stir to cover pieces of ham
7. Cook on warm or low for another hour

This recipe makes about 12 – 14 servings.

Roasted Turkey/Turkey Breast

Ingredients
~12 lb. turkey or turkey breast (11-15 lbs.)
1 large onion
7 garlic cloves
1 lemon
Bunch of poultry blend spices (rosemary, sage, and thyme)
1 cup butter
~ 2 – 3 tbsp. avocado oil
4 tbsp. lemon juice
½ tbsp. lemon zest
~ 2 – 3 tbsp. parsley
Salt and pepper

Instructions-
1. Preheat oven to 430 F
2. Arrange oven racks so that turkey is on the low rack of the oven
3. Remove turkey from package and rinse thoroughly (if using full turkey, additional cleaning is required)
4. Pat outside of turkey dry (inside and out) and set aside on paper towels to dry while preparing butter mixture
5. In a small bowl, combine butter, 2 tbsp. avocado oil, lemon zest, 4 tbsp. lemon juice, 3 minced garlic cloves, 2 – 3 tbsp. dried parsley, salt, and pepper
6. Combine butter mixture together (this will take time, but it will come together!)
7. Separate skin from meat of turkey (carefully!); do not tear skin
8. Season inside of turkey with salt and pepper
9. Stuff 2/3 of butter mixture in-between skin and meat; massage top of skin to spread around bird
10. Spread additional 1/3 of butter mixture to outside of turkey
11. Cut lemon, onion, and garlic (into quarters or eighths – do not peel)
12. Stuff inside of turkey with lemon, onion, garlic cloves, and poultry seasoning blend
13. Drizzle avocado oil on outside of skin
14. Fold a square piece of aluminum foil into triangle; form overtop of bird and remove to be used later in the cooking process
15. Add turkey into oven for 20 minutes (regardless of size of turkey)
16. Remove from oven and quickly baste
17. Reduce oven temperature to 350 F
18. Apply formed aluminum foil on turkey and add back into oven
19. Roast for 13 – 15 minutes per pound of turkey, basting throughout
20. When done, check temperature of turkey; breast temperature should be at least 160 F
21. If cooking is complete, cover loosly with foil and let rest for about an hour
22. Carve turkey and serve with gravy, cranberry sauce, or as is!
